Summer in Naples means sun-drenched beaches, poolside gatherings, and the kind of warm confidence that comes with feeling your absolute best. Yet for many of my patients, one persistent concern quietly holds them back, cellulite. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I hear about it constantly: the dimpling along the thighs and buttocks that no amount of dieting, exercise, or topical cream has been able to resolve. If that resonates with you, I want to share why this summer could genuinely be different, because of a breakthrough treatment called Avéli.
What Is Cellulite, Really?
Before we talk solutions, it helps to understand the problem. Cellulite is not a fat problem. It is a structural problem. Beneath the skin, fibrous bands called septa tether the skin downward to deeper tissue. When these bands pull too tightly, they create the characteristic dimpled appearance we know as cellulite. This is why no cream, massage, or workout can truly eliminate it, none of those approaches address the underlying structural cause.
Cellulite affects approximately 90% of women at some point in their lives, regardless of body weight or fitness level. It is deeply rooted in genetics and anatomy. For far too long, patients have been told there is simply nothing effective they can do. Avéli changes that conversation.
Introducing Avéli:
Precision Treatment at the Source
Avéli is an FDA-cleared, minimally invasive procedure designed specifically to treat the root cause of cellulite dimples on the thighs and buttocks. Rather than masking the appearance of cellulite, Avéli targets and releases the fibrous septa responsible for creating each individual dimple.
The procedure is performed in-office under local anesthesia in a single session. Using a handheld device with a small probe, I guide the instrument just beneath the skin to identify and precisely release the tethering bands causing each dimple. A real-time feedback mechanism within the device confirms that the targeted septa have been fully released, providing a level of accuracy and certainty that sets Avéli apart from previous treatments.
The entire procedure typically takes about an hour, and most patients return to their normal activities within a day or two.
What Results Can You Expect?
Clinical studies supporting Avéli’s FDA clearance showed that the vast majority of patients experienced a visible reduction in cellulite dimples, with results that are permanent. In practice, many of my patients see meaningful, lasting improvement after a single treatment session.
Because Avéli addresses the mechanical cause of each dimple, rather than offering a superficial fix, the results have a natural quality to them. Skin looks smoother and less tethered, and patients consistently describe feeling more comfortable and confident in swimwear and shorts.
Some temporary bruising and tenderness around the treatment area is normal and typically resolves within one to two weeks. Downtime is minimal, making Avéli an excellent option for patients with busy schedules who want real results without a lengthy recovery.
Is Avéli Right for You?
Avéli is best suited for adults who are bothered by moderate to severe cellulite dimples on the thighs or buttocks and are looking for a lasting, evidence-based solution. It is not a weight-loss treatment and is not intended to address skin laxity or overall body contouring. During your consultation at Naples Aesthetic Institute, we will evaluate your concerns, review your anatomy, and determine whether Avéli aligns with your goals.
I believe strongly in individualized care. Every patient I see has a unique body and a unique story, and my approach is always to recommend what is genuinely in your best interest — not what is simply trending.
