It’s Healthy Skin Awareness Month – That’s one of our favorite topics at Root Causes

That’s one of our favorite topics at Root CausesOur roots are in anti-aging aesthetics; so we know a thing or two about this topic. We’re excited to share some important information with you!

Skin Structure and Function
The skin is made up of several layers. The layer you see on the outside is essentially dead skin cells making their way off the surface and the cells below that act as a seal to protect the rest of your skin. The layers beyond that are actually the “live” layers of the skin that we want to address.

The skin is the body’s largest organ of detoxification, and is a protective barrier. It keeps things out as well as in. For example, it keeps bacteria out and fluid in. It also can be a big clue about what is going on inside your body. Many illnesses have skin components, like chickenpox and shingles.

But your best face forward!
The first thing that comes to mind when we think skin is the face. Americans spend billions of dollars a year caring for their faces! We want it to look as good as possible because it is our primary presentation to the world. Our faces are the most unique thing about us. The skin of the face is continually exposed to the elements, is the thinnest and most sensitive, and therefore, is in need of the most care.

Keeping your Skin Young and Healthy Looking
Inside and out…
Hydrate: The most important thing you can do for your skin is to keep it hydrated. Simply drinking enough water and using a hydrating serum will go a very long way in preventing and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. Remember that hydrating serums are not moisturizers. Moisturizers seal the skin. Hydrating serums add water.

Nutrition: Yes, your skin needs nutrients just like the rest of you. Skin really likes vitamin C. Taken internally, it adds strength to the skin, and prevents oxidative damage that occurs with aging, exposure to the sun, and environmental pollutants. Applied topically, vitamin C lightens, brightens and tightens the skin. Internal or topical, vitamin C is a great choice!

Fats: Don’t forget healthy fats. Your skin needs oil to keep it hydrated, supple and healthy. Fats from fresh plants are the best. Eat lots of avocados, coconuts, nuts, olives, and seeds. They provide excellent sources of fresh, healthy fats. Topical oils are great for the skin all over. Jojoba oil, squalene oil, and sweet almond oil are a few that can be great for the skin when they are organic, fresh, and properly produced for the skin.

Healthy Skin Superchargers:
Intravenous vitamins: Intravenous vitamins are an excellent way to supercharge your skin and keep it looking fabulous. Intravenous vitamin C, amino acids, and minerals, provide the nutrients your skin needs to look and function it’s best. We don’t always absorb all of our nutrients. As we age our digestion weakens. Intravenous vitamins are an excellent way to ensure that our whole body, including our skin, is getting all the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that it needs to stay healthy.

Increase circulation: At Root Causes we increase circulation using several different modalities: LED light, ultrasound, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, frequency, and good old-fashioned mechanical exfoliation.

Decrease inflammation: Decrease inflammation internally and externally. Inflammation is the root of all aging. We use hyperbaric oxygen, nutrition, nutritional supplements, other oxygen therapies, and frequency to decrease inflammation internally and externally. Your skin will love you!

Repair the damage: Already have damaged skin? We can help! Root Causes has a proprietary process that will lift, tone, and tighten your skin. It’s a one-of-a-kind process you can’t get anywhere else. We do great things, even with the midface.

Nutrient IV therapy for Beautiful Skin
Vitamin C
Intravenous vitamin C can increase your circulating vitamin C levels by 70 to 100 times the amount that oral vitamin C can. It is a powerful antioxidant that helps repair oxidative damage to the skin. Lighten, brighten and tighten! That’s the vitamin C mantra!

Intravenous Glutathione
Glutathione is the master detoxifier and antioxidant in the body. Every single cell uses glutathione, but it is most active in the liver, where the majority of detoxifying takes place. Detoxifying protects your body, and your skin, from the assaults of daily living. Glutathione supports every cell in your body. Unfortunately, oral glutathione just doesn’t work. It gets broken down by the digestive process before it gets into your blood. So intravenous is the only way to get it.

Myers Cocktail
A Myers cocktail is a combination of vitamins and minerals that helps to support the cellular activity of your body. This nutrients help everything work better. In the best case scenario, only about 40 percent of supplements are absorbed by the body. The Myers cocktail gives you 100 percent absorption because it is delivered straight to your blood stream via intravenous infusion. It’s beneficial to everyone, no matter who you are. Your skin will thank you.
