WHAT’S BETTER?

By Dr. Rich Bimler, Lutheran Life Communities –

WHAT'S BETTERA brilliant and creative current TV advertisement by AT &T Wireless is a wonderful example of how people can “Live Brightly” each day. It captures the relationship between a young man and a small group of children as they playfully answer the basic question, “What’s Better?”

Our grandchildren and I love this commercial, because it is fun, joy-filled, humorous, and real! For example, the man asks, “What’s Better – Fast or Slow” ? and he listens as the children ad lib their responses, such as “My grandma’s slow”. The interviewer than asks “How can she be faster?” and the tot responds, “Put a rocket on her back!” and so on and so on. It is a real delight to see an advertisement capture the pure joy of laughter and smiles and fun.

Other “What’s Better?” subjects aired have been , “What’s Better? – big or small, old or young, rich or poor.” The beauty of this commercial is the simple, creative, and engaging way these youngsters share their ideas and feelings in common, ordinary words.

What kind of “What’s Better?” subjects are you dealing with these days in your own life? How about, “What’s Better – sick or well, old or young, alone or together, happy or sad, laugh or cry, work or play, rich or poor, Ah-Ha or Uh-Oh ?” Go ahead, add some of your own. And ask a friend to chime in as well!

The Arlington of Naples, the new older adult community being developed in the Lely Resort area, will be a place where people live together to enable each other to ask these kinds of “What’s Better? questions. It will be a faith-based community of caring that that will answer the “What’s Better?” questions of life by empowering people to bring hope and joy and comfort and security to each other. It will create at attitude and atmosphere where “What’s Better?” concerns can be raised and dealt with as people “Live Brightly”, in the Lord, knowing that even as lives are meshed together with both good and bad and sickness and health and laughter and cries and ups and downs, the Lord continues to bring peace and hope and encouragement and joy to our daily lives.

“what’s better” than planning your future now to live and celebrate life together at the arlington of naples?

Thanks, AT & T, for helping to advertise the joy of living through the Yes’s and No’s and Ah-Ha’s and Uh-Oh’s of life!
